Sustainability in Boston
I was hired as a researcher and graphic designer to create a booklet digesting the various and multiple aspects of sustainability as relevant to the Boston metropolitan area. The primary directive of the project was to cut past the bullsh*t and attempt to get a true snapshot of where we were in terms of indicators, initiatives and projections of sustainability.
Fluidly moving between appropriate scales and mediums of research, I divided the issue of sustainability into seven distinct parts: climate change, land use, water, transportation, buildings, energy, and people. For each of these topic areas, I looked at published reports, GIS data, and policy programs to create new maps and graphics that revealed facts about the current state of sustainability in Boston.
